Get More Traffic to Your New Blog
When you start a new blog, one of the first things you quickly realise is that getting people to visit it is not as easy as putting up a few articles and waiting for Google to send you traffic.
I have been building websites and creating online content for years, and one thing I have learned is that traffic takes work. There is no magic button you can press that suddenly sends hundreds of people to a new website.
If you are starting from scratch, I would forget about trying to get thousands of visitors straight away. Set yourself a smaller target. Get your first 100 blogging visitors.
Once people start finding your website, you have something to work with. You can see which articles are getting attention, what people are searching for and where your traffic is coming from.
Make your articles useful
I am not a fan of writing an article just to hit a particular word count.
Yes, longer articles can work well when the subject needs more explanation, but adding another 500 words of waffle just to reach 1,500 words does not make an article better.
Write enough to properly answer the question. If that takes 1,000 words, fine.
If it takes 1,500 words, that is fine too. The reader should come first.
That is particularly important now that there is so much AI-generated content appearing online. There are plenty of articles that technically answer a question but sound exactly the same as hundreds of others.
I would rather read something that sounds like a real person sharing what they have learned. That is also what I mean by productive blogging.
It is not about publishing as many articles as possible. It is about spending your time creating content that has a purpose.
